As a member of the Iowa Lions, the Remsen Lions have a more local focus. Yearly, the Remsen Lions raised money with a fund drive and an annual breakfast for Iowa Lions Sight and Hearing Projects. |
The Remsen Lions meet the third Thursday of each month, September though May, at the Golden Pheasant Steak House in Remsen. Meetings begin at 7:30 P.M. following a social hour. |
 |
Money raised goes to a variety of projects which include; a Glaucoma and Diabetes Screening Program, Leader Dogs for the blind, the Iowa Braille and sight saving school, the Iowa School for the Deaf, the Iowa Lions Hearing Aid Bank, the Cochlear Implant Center, and the Lions Eye Bank. Early in the history of the Remsen Lions Club, the club demonstrated their commitment to the youth of Remsen by starting a Boy's Little League Program. In the 1980's the Lions expanded their involvement by sponsoring a Girls Softball program. Over the past 60 years, many of Remsen's children have benefited and enjoyed the fun and excitement of organized Boy's Baseball and Girl's Softball. The Lions continue this involvement even to this day.
