DEMOLITION DERBY
RULES
General
Rules
1.
All rules will be followed, or you will not run. Judges’ decisions are final.
2.
ALL CARS MUST BE ON EVENT GROUNDS 1
½ HOURS BEFORE SCHEDULED START OF EVENT. GATES CLOSE AND THAT’S FINAL!!!!!
3.
ALL drivers
and pit people must be on event ground ½ hour before schedule event.
4.
Anyone
under 18 must have a notarized release form signed by their parent/guardian
before driving in or working in the pit area.
NO ONE UNDER 16 ALLOWED TO DRIVE
OR IN THE PIT AREA.
5.
Any
person taking part in this event must sign a release form, releasing the
promoter, the town, and event holder from any injuries from the event.
6.
Any
reckless driving or other safety hazards by the driver or pit crew will be
grounds for immediate removal from the event.
7.
A
non-refundable entry fee per car. Entry
fee includes the car, a driver, and two pit people. Fee for extra pit passes is
$10.00 each.
8.
ALL
DRIVERS MUST ATTEND THE DRIVER’S MEETING!
9.
ALL
CARS MUST HAVE CAR NUMBER ON EACH SIDE DOOR AND UPRIGHT SIGN ON ROOF. NO
PROFANITY OR OBSCENE GESTURES ON CARS!
10.
NO DRINKING OF ALCOHOLIC
BEVERAGES. SAFETY IS A MUST!
11.
Drivers
are required to wear a safety helmet and seat belts.
12.
Cars
are subject to re-inspection before any prize money is handed out.
13.
Cars
must be removed from the event grounds by noon the following day or they will
be claimed by the event promoter.
14.
Given
2 minutes for restarts and 2 minutes if you are hung up. Every 30 seconds for
aggressive hits. THAT MEANS NO
SANDBAGGING OR YOU’RE DISQUALIFIED!
15.
DO
NOT hit the driver’s door! Sometimes
this happens, but if it looks intentional or by carelessness, you will be
disqualified. Don’t use your driver’s
door as a shield; it may cause you to get disqualified.
16.
Allowed
2 fires while running your heat, 3rd fire means disqualification.
17.
Drivers
are responsible for making your assigned heat.
Must run heat to advance to consolation heat.
18.
Any
open doors or unsecured hoods mean disqualification.
19.
All
glass and chrome be removed before entering the event grounds. DO
NOT BREAK GLASS IN DOORS.
20.
TIME IS A CONCERN!!! IF YOU FAIL
INSPECTION THE FIRST TIME YOU ONLY GET A SECOND TIME TO PASS! FAIL AGAIN MEANS DISQUALIFIED!
1.
Original
gas tank can be used if in front of rear end or strapped and covered in the
middle of the back seat. If original
gas tank used, filler neck must removed to interior of car.
2.
Plastic
or rubber molding on front and rear bumpers must be removed.
3.
All
air bags must be removed. Doors must be chain or wired shut.
4.
NO WELDING ALLOWED ANYWHERE with
the exception of firewall bar and bar behind driver’s seat.
5.
Hoods
may be fastened by chains or bolts.
Maximum of six bolts may be used to secure hood. A bolt must be placed in each back corner of
hood for safety reasons.
6.
Trunk
lid or tailgate allowed maximum of ten bolts.
Also may be chained.
7.
Only
small car parts allowed. No solid rubber or larger than 15’’ tires.
8.
Only
front-wheel drive vehicles that are 4 or 6 cylinder allowed.
9.
Radiator
must remain in stock location. No
auxiliary coolers. Brakes must work!!!
10.
Batteries
may be removed to interior of car. Fastened securely and covered.
11.
If
fuel line is run through passenger compartment, must be a metal line except for
connection to fuel tank and fastened securely.
NON-WELDED CLASS
1.
CARS
AND STATION WAGONS ONLY! NO IMPERIALS OR
IMPERIAL SUBFRAMES!
2.
All
added bolts or ready rod cannot exceed 1 inch in diameter. All bolt plates or
washers cannot exceed 4”x4”.
3.
All
bumpers used from any car make must remain stock form. No bending, reshaped, or
strengthening. Bumper ends maybe cut off. No
metal straps from bumper to hood, radiator support, tail gate, or trunk lid.
4.
Bumper
shocks or brackets can be compressed by chain, bolts, wire. A 2” metal strap
1/8” thick can be attached from top of frame around bumper to bottom of frame.
All trailer hitches and braces must be removed.
5.
Frame
remains in stock form. Leave factory
frame holes open. No added support anywhere unless pre derby, then a 3”x6”
plate added on both sides with 4 bolts holding it together.
6.
No
extra body mount bolts added. Optional: Bolts can be replaced and attach to
floor pan only. Except of the two by radiator can be attach to the top of
radiator support but not exceed through hood.
7.
No
strengthening of radiator support assembly. STOCK FORM
8.
All body parts remain stock form and stock location. THAT MEANS NO WEDGING OR ANYTHING OF THAT
SORT!
9.
Fender
and inner wheel well as one unit may be cut out for clearance and allow total
of 5 extra bolts per side for strength. Same applies to quarter panels.
10.
Hood
must have a 12” hole in case of fire. Fasten down by wire, chain, or total of 6
hood bolts. 2 of the 6 bolts must be in back corners for safety reasons. Hood
remains stock and in stock location. Allowed up to 25 bolts to fasten inner to
outer sheet metal.
11.
Doors
must be chained, wired, or bolted shut. Brakes must work!!
12.
Driver’s
door seam can be welded 5 on, 5 off, 5 on, 5 off, etc.
13.
One
support bar in dash area, no larger than 3” dia., one bar behind front seat,
and no larger then 4” dia. End plates on bars – max. 12”x8”. No other bars allowed!!!
14.
Trunk
lid or tail gate must be chained, wired, or max. of 10 bolts to fasten shut.
None may be attached to frame in any manner.
15.
No
strands of wire in window openings, or from roof to floor pan.
16.
Suspension
remains in stock height. Leaf springs remain stock form. Can re clamp springs—2
per side. Clamps max.—2x4x1/4 thick.
17.
Bumpers
no higher than 18” off the ground. Also
need to bounce. The referees will
determine what needs to be done to make pass!!!
18.
No
larger than 15’’ tires. No solid rubber tires. Radiator in stock location. No
extra water coolers. Tranny coolers optional be not in passenger
compartment.
19.
Batteries,
marine style gas tank allowed inside car. Fastened securely and covered.
20.
Hand
throttle, locked rear end, altering shifter and steering column is optional.
21.
If
fuel line is run through passenger compartment, must be a metal line except for
connection to fuel tank and fastened securely.
22.
NO WELD ALLOWED ANYWHERE EXCEPT
SUPPORT BARS AND REAREND!
23.
Driver
door support bar is optional. If used
cannot exceed 8” past door seams.
24.
THE
DRIVER’S DOOR MUST BE PAINTED WHITE!!!!!!
25.
IF
NOT STATED HERE CALL REFEREES OR SIMPLY DON’T DO IT!!!!!!
WELDED CLASS
1.
CARS
AND STATION WAGONS ONLY! NO IMPERIALS OR
IMPERIAL SUBFRAMES!
2.
Frame
seams can be welded and that is it. LEAVE
ALL FACTORY FRAME HOLES OPEN. No foreign material added inside or outside
of frame for strength. Pre-derby vehicles can have a 3’’ by 6’’ plate welded to
frame by damaged part.
3.
All body seams may have 5’’ welds
then skip 5’’ then 5’’welds and so on from front to back. Optional: Extra body
mount bolts added. Bolts can be replaced and attach to floor pan only. Except
for the two by radiator which can be attached to the top of radiator support
but not exceed through the hood.
4.
All
