Youth activities: bowling, skating, holiday parties, basketball shootout contest.Breakfasts: "Matching Funds" fund raisers. Recite rosary and act as honorary pall bearers for deceased members. A Mass is said for each deceased member. Participation in Corpus Christi celebration at Oyens. Treipen supper for members and guests in January. Sausage supper for members and guests in February. Christmas party for members and guests. St. Mary's Court, #996 was established June 14, 1899. There were 12 signers of the court's charter. John Beck was the first member, with roster #1. The Catholic Order of Foresters (COF) is a national Catholic fraternal organization whose purpose is the financial, social, physical and spiritual well being of its members. It was founded by a shipping clerk named Thomas Taylor, to replace collections taken up for widows and orphans after a wage earner died. He hoped to sign up 1000 men who would contribute $1.00 each when one of them died. It was incorporated May 17, 1887 at Holy Family Church in Chicago, IL, with 42 members. He reached his goal of 1000 members by the end of 1884. National Headquarters are now at Naperville, IL.
Membership is now acquired by purchasing insurance. It is possible to become a social member in a local court if one does not qualify for insurance. The current insurance agent is:
